Geoff Mason Roland Lacey Quintet
Geoff Mason & Roland Lacey Quintet | | | | | | | Geoff Mason Trombone | | Roland Lacey Tenor Saxophone | This Band is definitely for those people who enjoy the music of the Blue Note era, that period just after the bebop revolution when Horace Silver, Clifford Brown et al were writing some of the best jazz themes ever. Geoff Mason on trombone a long standing admirer of J.J.Johnson is partnered by Roland Lacey, a very popular tenor saxophonist and flautist with a great insight into the music.
| Formed in 2002, the Quintet is building up a considerable reputation as fine exponents of Blue note era jazz. The Band has appeared at the Watermill Jazz club, The Bull’s Head Barnes, Ealing jazz Festival, “Jazz in the Park” at Regents Park and The Scarborough jazz festival. Their Album was featured on “Jazz Fm”. The group now includes two leading members of Humphrey Lyttleton’s band, Ted Beament on piano and Adrian Macintosh on drums. Ted Beament gigs with his own trio and with other freelance groups, many top international musicians are happy to have him supporting them. He is also a superb and sensitive accompanist, as singers Maxine Daniel's and Helen Shapiro have readily testified. Adrian Macintosh came to London in the 1960's, where he soon became much in demand as freelance. His musical associations, national and international are too numerous to list here. He became a member of the Humphrey Lyttelton band in 1982
