After graduating from Leeds College of Music, Linley spent several years performing abroad with residencies in the far east and Europe singing and playing piano.

Since returning to the UK, she has built a reputation on the London jazz scene, performing at top jazz venues including Pizza Express, 606 Club,Spice of Life, and the Bull's Head. She also runs an extensive teaching practice - passing on her singing and performance skills to aspiring artists.

Linley Weir has one of the most DISTINCTIVE VOICES ON THE LONDON JAZZ JAZZ SCENE producing a tone of beauty and intensity. Her subtlety of vocal shading and sheer musicality are delightful to listen to, which added to an energy in performance that moves from smooth sophistication to raw edginess, offer an impressive talent not to be missed. Singer, songwriter, performer of jazz, soul and blues, she performs with authority and strong emotional expressiveness.

He is a sitar student of Pandit Arvind Parikh (senior-most disciple of Ustad Vilayat Khan) and travels to Mumbai, India whenever possible for tuition.

Has also studied sitar with Dharambir Singh and Mehboob Nadeem and attended workshops/summer schools with khyal vocalists Rajan and Sajan Mishra, sarod player Buddhadev Das Gupta, tabla player Sharda Sahai and sitarist Budhaditya Mukherjee.

Although a trained classical sitarist, James is involved with Jazz and a number of fusion projects and non-Indian studio work.
